Revolution Fastbase Foundation Stick and Concealer Review: a winning duo?

Looking for a new foundation and concealer to switch up your makeup routine? The Revolution Fastbase Foundation Stick and Concealer review could help you decide. Get this look, today…

After success so far with Revolution’s products, I was excited to try out this foundation stick and concealer

Revolution Foundation Stick

After swiping the product around my face, I used a foundation brush to buff it into the skin.

As you can see, the foundation certainly masks all my redness and unevenness in the skin, but I definitely look a little ghostly with just the foundation on. However, you can see the final look, with the concealer, and my usual bronzer, blusher, and highlighter, right at the end of this post.

Revolution Fastbase Foundation Stick Review

Firstly, let’s talk about the foundation stick. This is the first foundation stick I’ve ever tried out, so let’s see if it impressed…

Packaging

5/10

Considering Revolution’s usual high-quality packaging, I was a little disappointed with how this felt. It is made of a very thin plastic material, and feels really light when holding it. The rose gold metal additions do add a certain flair, and definitely make it look better however, when the product is closed, the main metal part is not on show, so the best part of the packaging is not always visible. I think it would have looked a bit more expensive if the packaging wasn’t the nude colour that it is – the lighter colour means it gets visibly dirty, and just doesn’t work well, in my opinion.

Quality of Product

5/10

Although the colour was a PERFECT match, I have to say that the product did not last well at all. By the end of the day, and even half way through the day actually, the product had pretty much melted off my face, and I was barely doing anything active to warrant this. You know when you know a foundation product is good, because at the end of the day when you remove your makeup, you can see it all over the makeup wipe? Yeah… I didn’t get that with this foundation.

Colour Range

7/10

There are a large range of colours available (18, in fact), which work particularly well for those with lighter skin. However, there are only around 5 much darker shades, so the variety for darker skin is really not on par with that for those with lighter skin.

Ease of Use

10/10

I love the foundation stick usability. You can simply dot it onto the skin, for a sheerer look, or swipe it on for a thicker look, and then buff it in with your brush, et voila!

Price for Product

10/10

£5!? I’ll take that any day.

Overall Rating: 7.4/10

Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer Review

I then added the concealer to my look…

Packaging

8/10

I really like this packaging, as it feels heavy, and I tend to like anything with a thick, glass exterior. I also like the rose gold stickers and lid – anything rose gold is a winner to be honest!

Quality of Product

5/10

I have to say, although the concealer did stay on longer than the foundation, it did not compare to my usual Collection Lasting Perfection concealer, which remains on my face all day (and is only £0.19 dearer!). It also creased really badly under my eyes, which normally doesn’t happen too badly for me, and made my face look so much more cake-y than I would like.

Colour Range

7/10

Similar to the foundation, there are 18 shades, 6 of which are much darker. However, the range for lighter skin is, again, better than that for darker skin, thus the lower score.

Ease of Use

8/10

Any doe-foot applicator is perfect for applying concealer. My only qualm is that the product was quite watery so, when I used a brush to blend it in, it smeared around my face for a while until it actually settled.

Price for Product

9/10

Yes, £4 is cheap, but there are better products for around the same money.

Overall Rating: 7.4/10

Final Thoughts on the Revolution Fastbase Foundation Stick and Concealer

Overall, the finish of the foundation on my skin was smooth, but you can see how strange my under-eyes look in these pictures – they look quite sallow and creased, which is not normal for me. Therefore, I probably wouldn’t purchase the concealer again, but I would buy the foundation again!

  1. Great review. Especially about the downsides of the packaging. I agree that the concealer causes creasing – its one of the reasons that I don’t use it as an eyeshadow primer either – like I do with other concealers. The Fastbase foundation is a pretty good shade match for you though.

Thanks for reading! I agree – the colour match is fab, and these days, I mix it with the maybelline superstay foundation to give it a bit more moisture, and it works a treat!
